I knew I was unhealthy: overweight, medical conditions, bad knees etc. and needed to do something. Before joining CrossFit NQF I had never stayed with a program longer than a few months. I was too self-conscious to go to a big gym so when a trusted friend told me about this gym with a coach that I could trust I had to try it. Jeanette is knowledgable about the lifts and movements, sees where I am at each day, and modifies as needed. I have been a member for over a year and a half, have had three surgeries (unrelated not injuries) and I have continued to get stronger both mentally and physically.

Time, motivation, and consistency have always been the challenge. Coming to CrossFit NQF has provided me with the knowledge to keep my physical fitness going when I travel. I like the small groups and partner WODS. I am even starting to like wall balls Who Knew? Things were a struggle at first, but it is nice to see my improvements over time.

going to a gym can be intimidating. I remember after having the boys my husband bought me a gym membership and I cried worrying about being judged by others. Here I did not feel judged. Jeanette met me where I was at even when I could not do a single sit up. As a teacher, I am moving all the time, getting up and down with the kids and interacting with with them in various ways. CrossFit really is functional fitness and I see this in my daily life. Jeanette provides more than just a place to workout. She helps us explore the related emotional and mental health aspects of what we are doing and provides guidance with better/healthier eating.

After I got sick, went into the hospital twice, then out I was not a healthy person. Any muscle I did have was gone. I was not in a good spot mentally or physically. Jeanette has been a resource for getting me back on track and she met me where I was. After the cancer diagnosis, I don't know that I would have had the strength to battle any treatment at that time. I don't want to be a 250 pound old man trying to battle that (surgeries, chemo, radiation etc). My second reason for wanting to be here is to be with my wife. As empty nesters it is just us again and I want to have things that we can do together. Everything we need is right here.
